I Am B Woman, founded in January 2020, was created by four sistahs for all sistahs. We came together to spread love, positivity and freedom to express the black woman’s experience and so much more.
Expressing the Array of Us
Truth is, our Blackness is often forced to exist in a proverbial box formed by everyone but us. According to the world, there is only one way to be Black and only a few ways to be a Black woman. We are not a monolith. We have various cultures, upbringings, experiences, faiths, worldviews and interest. We hope to dispel the notion of a “Black card” and forever put a stop to the endless parade of its revocations.
Here, Your Voice Matters!
The world loves to embrace our words, thoughts and ideas. Unfortunately, they have trouble embracing them from the source. With the popularity of the #MeToo movement to the generational embrace of the term #BlackGirlMagic, we are never the accepted presenters of our own creations. Here on I am B Woman, that is not the case. We hope to provide voice to those of us who feel afraid or weary of speaking our truths with friends, family or coworkers.
Our mission is to uplift the Black woman’s experience.
We are not the first platform made for Black women. Nonetheless, we must recognize that many platforms that started for us and by us are no longer serving us. We want our sistahs to curate this site and it's content.
