Editor-In-Chief
I am Jai Highness, a proud second generation Haitian-American from Miami, Florida. Currently, I work as the professional makeup artist for Jai Highness Artistry. I have a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunication, University of Florida and a Master of Science in Higher Education Administration from Barry University. During my undergraduate career I was inspired to write and create a safe space for women of color while attending a predominantly white institution (PWI).
Through my own experiences and African-American studies, I realized the duality of prejudice Black women faced as a “double-minority”. In my journey, I found a refuge through the camaraderie of other Black women. I Am B Woman focuses on the highlights of the strengths, beauty, and the complexity of issues that Black women in America face everyday: Am I a woman or Black, first? In our lives, we search for inspiration and find joy by uplifting Black Women everywhere. Here your voice always matters.
"My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style." - Maya Angelou

My name is Yoye and I was born and raised in Miami, Florida. In my upbringing and rearing, education has always been important and necessary for the advancement of our family and representation of our people. I think participating in life with the mindset of the collective is important, which is why I am so excited to work with these women to produce content and engage you. Telling our story is our right and responsibility so we will write from multiple perspectives and experiences. My experiences are unique in the way I experienced them but I know other people have experienced them as well-even if it is in a different way.
Growing up with immigrant parents has imparted a deep appreciation for my Ayisyen(Haitian) culture and a love for my Alkebulan (African) roots. As a current educator, I am constantly learning and growing in all aspects of my life. To note, on my journey to self- knowledge and self- love I will now and continue to love and grow through history and spirituality. Grow with me, experiment with us and engage in this thing we called life.

Who am I? I'm a woman woven by God’s divine hand who is able to imbue life and bring healing to the world around me. That is my identity which is lifted by my ancestor’s journey from the cradle of civilization to the seas of the Caribbean. The story of their humanity and fight for their God-given freedom continues through my veins.
I am the daughter of Haitian immigrants who sought a new home in Miami, FL. Above all things, faith, community, authenticity and healing are the most important things to me. It is with my experiences as a melanin rich woman in these United States that I bring poise and power. It is with my experiences as a social worker and organizer that I bring humanity and dignity to “the least of these”. It is with my experience as a human being that I bring compassion and reverence to the womb of Mother Earth that shields us from the storms of the unknown universe. I hope the voices from my sisters and I will instill those of you from every faith to reconnect to their neighbors and most importantly, themselves, more than before.

I am Fabulously Jih, American born to immigrant parents. I am a Graduate student studying Human Resources Development, I’m a content creator, lover of food, photography, nature and music. Born in Miami FL, raised in Haiti, Miami and Boston. Growing up in Haiti as a young child I didn’t appreciate the culture as I do now, growing up in Miami I began to learn about Rap and Hip Hop music that inspired me to write, at the age of sixteen I left Miami to begin a new life in Boston where I graduated High School and attended College where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Soon after I graduated I moved back to Miami which has been home for the last five years now.
I consider myself to be down to earth and funny (people tell me that a lot), I’m the silly one in the group. From my teen years, I discovered a love for reading, writing (poetry) and photography but as I grew older (adulting sucks) I lost touch on the things that I once enjoyed doing.
Nonetheless, I believe it’s never too late to pick up where I’ve left off, so I am here to bring back my creative side, bring out the pen and notepad, dust off my camera and take it from there.
