I attended another Bosses in Motion dinner recently. Each event has been different from the last event and I love that I get to learn and experience something new every time I go. One word that comes to mind when I think about the Bosses in Motion Dinner is “ELEVATE”. Daphney always makes sure to improve the experience from each event and has the best team working with her. It’s amazing to see the amount of support; always keep good people in your corner, people that see and understand your vision, people that will help you elevate it to the next level. The next dinner is going to be in Las Vegas which I am excited about, the date will be announced soon. I don’t regret attending the first dinner because it has allowed me to network with other entrepreneurs and small businesses - we support each other. We all start somewhere, whether big or small. I’m most proud of myself for taking that leap of faith, even when I was scared to start a business because I didn’t want to deal with what comes with operating a business. Jih’s Clay Creations has been up and running for six months now, it has been a good journey so far. I'm working on building a community for my business, not just customers.
Attending Bosses in Motion Dinner is an experience, a high class one I like to call it. From the decor, the venue, the dress code, the guest speakers and you just never know what to expect. This dinner had a dress code “ MELANIN” which was strictly enforced and it turned out beautiful. Although I knew about this dinner months in advance I waited until the last minute to shop for an outfit which was not a good idea but that’s typical of me (smh at myself). I had gone to many different stores in the mall; Macys, JCPenny, Dillards, even H&M to name a few and found nothing that matched my style. I ended up finding a stunning dress at Ross which I like shopping there and shook my head once again because I should have checked there first. The dress wasn’t my size but that was the “it” dress for me, so I purchased it anyway. On my way home I decided to stop by another Ross and the first thing I saw was the same dress and it was in my size; and that’s how I knew it was meant to be.
I had arrived fashionably late to the dinner, missing the red carpet and cocktail hour. Getting ready takes a lot of time and energy, I had to do my hair and makeup which is like a 3-4 hrs process in itself. Although I was late I still enjoyed the rest of the dinner. I raffled off 5 beautiful pairs of earrings from Jih’s Clay Creations. The best part of the night was receiving a Golden Hour Award at the dinner, which really took me by surprise because I was not expecting that but I am so grateful that my work is not for nothing and that others see my potential as well. All attendees received a goodie bag that contained many different items from different businesses. Overall great night, beautiful people, great music - just a vibe!
