I am thankful

Every year for Thanksgiving we do the same thing, cook and get dressed just to sit at the dining room table to eat and spend quality time with our loved ones. Some of us are fortunate enough to have family members invite us to attend Thanksgiving dinner. To be honest, holidays aren’t my thing because I didn’t grow up in a household that celebrated them. For me, it’s usually just another day but I’ll get ready as if I’m going out to a restaurant or something. In preparation, I do my hair, makeup and put aside a nice outfit just to take pictures. In recent years, that seems to be the trend every Thanksgiving #diningroomlook #livingroomlook.
Since Thanksgiving is during fall season, I always lean towards more warm and neutral colors. I always dress in elegance. Burnt orange is one of the colors that I tend to lean towards. Last year my outfit cost me $7.I took a trip to my nearest goodwill and I was not disappointed. This year, I decided to shop through my closet and see what looks I could come up with and surprisingly enough burnt orange has come in handy once again.
But on a more serious note, this year’s Thanksgiving, I want to show gratitude and share what I’m thankful for. Although I’m thankful for these things daily, I’ve come to appreciate them a little more because life is short and can be taken away from us at any given moment. Here are three thing I'm most thankful for.
Being able to breathe
To have been blessed to be able to open my eyes each day... breathing is a huge blessing and it’s only by God’s Grace and favor that I can do it. Many people went to sleep and did not wake up.
Family
I’ll be honest, I’m not a very affectionate person nor am I one that likes to express my feelings outwardly; but family is important to me. We don’t get to spend as much time together but I try to be present when I am with family. 2020 has shown us what “life is too short” really means.
Job
Although I dislike my place of work, I am grateful to have income. My job allows me to take care of the bills and other expenses. Many people lost their job and are suffering financially. I can't take my job for granted.
