My great escape... that’s what photography is to me.

At a young age my father used to bring me to the photo studio for every occasion. I have so many pictures, albums and memories to last a lifetime. I have a lot of memories to look back on and hope to show my children someday. Posing for pictures became second nature for me. Eventually, I began to love taking pictures and snapping pictures of others for every occasion.

I don’t remember the first time I purchased a camera but the Kodak Power Flash Disposable Camera was my go to in the good old days. Eventually, I switched over to digital cameras. I’ve had quite a few cameras from brands like Sony, Nikon and Fuji. Over the years, I became more of a Nikon camera kind of girl. Recently, my camera of choice has been the Nikon G7X Mark II. I wanted to pursue photography as a career, but that dream was shattered because Caribbean parents don’t believe in jobs that don’t bring in a huge stream of income. Forced to choose another career, I attended the University of Massachusetts Boston where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. I figured it'd work because I was also passionate about kids.

I recently found some of my old cameras while doing some deep cleaning during quarantine. I was very happy about that and surprised that I still had my Sony Cyber-shot (number 1 pictured below), my first digital camera. Later on I upgraded to the Nikon Coolpix (number 2). I think the Nikon was the last digital camera I purchased for a while. I had lost touch of photography and smartphones were a thing. For my birthday in 2017 I received the Canon Power Shot as a gift (number 3) and started taking pictures again. I also started recording videos for my YouTube channel with this camera. The Instax and Canon G7X are my most recent cameras.
