Heavenly Essence Natural

Kayan is a former co-worker of mine who's become a friend outside of our place of work. We’ve had the opportunity to work together for about a year or so. Kayan is the owner and CEO of K Couture Daughter of Zion which is a Faith based T-shirt line. I had the opportunity to interview Kay on the Support Your Friends series back in 2019 when I was starting out. She did not hesitate to be a guest on the show because she saw the vision and supported what I was doing. You can check out the full interview here. Kayan, I must say, is a woman who wears many hats. She started a t-shirt line over a year ago and now just recently launched a natural body care line called Heavenly Essence Natural. I am here for it! Multiple businesses equals more streams of income.

When Kayan reached out to me to do her makeup and photoshoot I was nervous because I’m not a professional makeup artist or photographer. I have been practicing doing my own makeup and taking photos of myself. I was honored that Kayan trusted me with doing her makeup and photoshoot for her brand. I was proud of my work seeing the end results. I am still in awe to see that my work is on her website. Thank you for that opportunity Kayan. Heavenly Essence, created by Kayan O'connor- Robinson, is a natural body care line that strives to create healthier glowing skin. We believe the products you apply to your body should come from Mother Earth and not be compromised with chemicals or harmful materials. At Heavenly Essence we believe in meeting the needs of our client. A healthy glowing skin will always give off positive vibration and attract positive energy. Our products are made with natural organic ingredients infused with love​.

The products that Heavenly Essence currently have available for purchase on the site are avocado whipped body butter, mango whipped body butter, whipped sugar scrub, Shea whipped body butter and lavender body soak. The avocado whipped body butter is my absolute favorite. I love the smell, the way it makes my body feel, the glow. Whenever I inhale it, it makes my brain tingle, I love how happy this body butter makes me feel. It’s kind of an obsession at this point.

Now, let’s get into these questions.

How did you come up with the name Heavenly Essence? I knew I wanted the company to have the word “Heaven” because when I think of natural- which is the base of all the products we offer- I think of creation. I brainstormed a few names that sounded well with Heaven and did a survey with my sisters and husband and that’s what we came up with. I fell in love with the name and decided to use it.

What is a challenge that you face being a business woman? As a business woman, I face many challenges; however, the biggest challenge that I face is being a mother and a business woman. It gets overwhelming at times balancing the need of my children and the business. Of course our children come first however, at times business needs arise at the moment our children need help and attention. So you have to temporarily put business on hold to be a mommy and then pick up where you left off making your days seem endless at times.

What advice can you give someone who is thinking about starting a business? If you're thinking about starting a business, just do it! Understand that your business may not succeed the first time around, it is a learning experience and you will learn as you go and grow. Don’t always expect that all friends and family will support you or encourage. Opening a business is definitely a faith move.

Do you see Heavenly Essence expanding in the near future? Heavenly Essence will be expanding in the future, we anticipate adding new products and begin international shipping.
