I’ve officially passed the quarter century mark of my life… it’s time to rebrand. First stop… wardrobe. Becoming more of a minimalist and wanting simplicity has really helped me purge my closet, shoe & accessory collections. Each season, I’ve donated gently worn/new items to friends, family and strangers alike. The thing is, with age came hormonal/body changes that has got this girl really adamant about loving the body she is in.

Scrolling through social media, especially Instagram & YouTube, had me feeling like I’m not the ideal height, frame or size for society throughout my 20s. Now that I’ve grown to love my imperfections (especially those things that I can’t change), I say “SCREW THE WORLD”!. I’m going to honor this vessel & love on it naked or clothed. A wardrobe is just the last cherry on top for me loving my body. I came to terms that I was not the “coke bottle shaped”, large “apple bottom” gal and I'm now focused on dressing to feel good in the gorgeous skin I’m in.
Want to know how to feel good in your clothes? Follow these simple steps!

This whole time I thought I was an Inverted Triangle because of my exceptionally large breast and broad shoulders. Turns out, I’m a bottom hour-glass. Knowing your body type will help you build an accentuating/flattering wardrobe & keep a realistic fitness/physical goal in terms of appearance.
Tip: Learn your actual body frame/shape. I love this online body type calculator. You’ll
need to measure your bust, waist, high & low hip and enter it in. The calculator will tell you your body shape and recommend clothing that flatters it.
I mentioned this in my Feminine Nesting Tips article: make sure to wear clothes that feel good to touch. I love the feeling of cotton, wool, lace, cashmere and satin on my skin. Engaging your senses will help you embody your feminine energy which will boost your inner confidence. Trust me!
Tip: Polyester works great too when there is a certain percentage of cotton for those
living on a budget like me.

Color therapy is a real thing. The colors we wear and are surrounded with really do impact how we feel. The running joke amongst my high school friends was, “Kim painted her nails black again… something is up”. I didn’t realize how black, white and grey my wardrobe was until I really started practicing mindfulness and listening to my body/emotions more. When I’m depressed, I wear dark colors and honestly dark colors all the time keeps me in a dark place.
Tip: Create a capsule wardrobe for each season with color varieties. For
Winter/Fall, I lean on earth tone colors and black, grey. For Spring/Summer, my go to are
pastels with light greys.
Accentuate your assets! Over the last 5 years, I realized I started hiding my best features because I didn’t really embrace the hormonal weight changes in my body. Don’t hide your best features. Following tip #1 will always make sure you look good. Here are my tips for my body type.
Tip (for large breasted women): Rock those V-necks! They elongate your neck which
is super fem. Add some shimmer to your collarbone and/or a statement necklace. Trust me on this!
Tip (for large thighed women): Don’t be afraid of raising that hem. Find a length for shorts/skirts that is comfortable for you. Show off those thighs and calves hunny! For swimsuits/lingerie, always purchase a high cut on the leg/thigh. Your thighs will thank you and so will spectators.
Tip (for tall ladies with longer torsos): Always accentuate your waistline to create more of a coke bottle illusion. Try on shorts/shirts between 3”-10” and learn the length that best suits you. A-line skirts/dresses are always a plus. For swimsuits/lingerie, always buy things that highlight your waist.
Tip (for large armed women): If you wear a jacket/blazer, be sure that fabric gives way. Always buy a size up (this will allow you to layer as well for more styles). Always wear one that accentuates your waistline and/or has a V-cut neckline. Only wear mid sleeve or no sleeves. Short sleeves and long sleeves make your top look larger.
