I’ve recently renewed my fitness journey to rededicate myself to a consistent workout schedule and clean eating cause this pandemic weight has to go. So, I’ve decided to try a juice cleanse as detox to help with my digestive health overall. Before I started this cleanse I did the proper research and watched reviews on YouTube and spoke with a friend who has been on a 3-day juice cleanse themselves. To be honest, I’m a novice to juicing or fasting. I've never done it because I love food and I can’t imagine going days without eating solids. But there is a renewal aspect to juice cleanse that I was interested in experiencing. Also, I'm very interested in healthy digestion or “gut health” . It's important to be regular and to have a lot of fiber in your diet -- if you don’t you may be holding an unhealthy amount of waste in your body.

Arden Garden is a brand I’m familiar with and it is available at your local Publix if you’re in Florida or you can order it from their website. I wanted to try a 3-day cleanse but I thought it would be wise to test the waters with 1-day cleanse. If I could make it through one day then that’d give me confidence to do the 3-day cleanse; the company recommends a cleanse for 2-5 days for more results. I wasn’t worried about making the number on the scale move but I wanted to remove that sluggish or heavy feeling I get after eating a meal. I’ve added the food schedule of the juice cleanse below:
Breakfast: Super Celery
AM Snack: Lean & Green
Lunch: Multigreen
PM Snack: Cucumber Lemonade
Dinner: Yoga 1
Before Bed: Super Celery
The retail price for this set on the website is $35 but I decided to go to Publix and purchase the 6 bottles myself. It came out to $22.74, almost $15 dollars cheaper but I had to substitute some of the juice because I went to the Publix near the end of the week so most of the options were probably gone. Here’s what I bought: (2) green machines, (2) yoga 1, hibiscus tea, and lean & green.
Breakfast: Super Celery, Replacement = Green Machine (130 calories)
AM Snack: Lean & Green, Replacement = Lean & Green ( 208 calories)
Lunch: Multigreen, Replacement = Yoga 1
PM Snack: Cucumber Lemonade, Replacement = Hibiscus Tea
Dinner: Yoga 1, No Replacement
Before Bed: Super Celery, Replacement = Green Machine (130 calories)
Adjusting to the Cleanse
My favorite juice overall in the collection was the Yoga 1 (Pineapple Juice, Apple Juice, Spinach, Kale, Distilled Water, Ginger, Lemons) it definitely gave me energy throughout the day when I felt my body was adjusting to the juicing. I didn’t feel hungry in my stomach but my mind was definitely a battlefield manifesting delicious images of food. I think I could do this fast if I had just one meal in between but just straight juices is definitely hard.
Would I do it again … yes and no. Yes, because the juices were enjoyable but I would need at least one solid meal to make it through the day. So, I guess I’m welcomed to a modified version of the detox. All in all, I wouldn’t recommend those who have underlying health issues to do this without consulting your doctor; I don’t want no one passing out down to the job or at the grocery store lol. But I do know someone who made it through successfully for 3 days but told me that she had a two-days adjustment period before their body got used to the cleanse. Ultimately, I tapped out the cleanse at 3:21 PM, so I made it through the majority of the day. I only had two bottles left from the cleanse, I’ll probably use them for a breakfast protein shake. I just had one meal that day and I’m glad I gave it a try.
